The tremendous growth of personal digital image collections calls for new ways to access these images in a useful and interesting manner. We propose that such a browsing interface should combine features such as multi-dimensional pivoting and space travel-like exploration. This paper describes an image browsing prototype and our experience from using it with two different real-life data sets. Our conclusion is that while the prototype has shortcomings, this is a very promising research direction that merits further exploration.
